A sample for a proposed full-length documentary film about the late Stanley Greene–artist, poet and world-renowned war photographer.
A legendary figure among photojournalists, Stanley Greene was one of the few African-Americans to cover every major conflict in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the United States for over 30 years. His photographs and writing were featured in media outlets throughout the world.
Acclaimed images he created in Iraq, Syria, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Rwanda and Serbia, as well as in post-Katrina New Orleans, are testament to his commitment and belief that photography is a way of making sense of the world. In doing so, it can help change it for the better. This sample is funded, in part, by a grant from the City of Berkeley (CA) Civic Arts Grant.
